Very tempted to switch to PS3

The 360 is a noisy machine, if your trying to play it at night when other people in the house are sleeping then it's distracting and when I see someone saying that isn't the case then I start to question their judgement.

I live in a house with 3 other people and i have NEVER had any complaints. In fact I've lived with 13 different people since i got the console and non of them have ever said its noisy.

How much heat does the PS3 kick out? When I had my 360 in my room by the computer (it's a small room) the room would get quite warm due to the heat coming out of the console.

My PS3 is hotter than the air coming out of my 360, it's like a quiet heater.

My mates 360 is pretty noisy when it sits there spinning its drive with the sound off on the TV/amp but who plays games in silence? If your playing late at night or cant have the volume up get a nice set of headphones (or not so nice) and the problem is solved.

Does the 360 power brick get hot though?, as the psu is integrated in the PS3. I'd say my PS3 kicks out the same heat as My 480watt Tagan PSU in my PC.

Yeah it gets quite toasty when the console is in use, there was a story of some (dumb) kid wrapping it in plastic and putting it in a bucket of water to cool it down (if anyone needs to ask why that is a bad idea then there is not much hope for them).

okey

says who? you got some official source on this?

How about this.. the first time I borrowed a work 360 was to play Gears of War - was playing it at my parents house, with my lass round. She was trying to read over the other side of my parents big sitting room. Sony TV with the volume on 8... she looks up "will you turn that down". So I does. About 10 mins later - "for gods sake, turn that down will you." - the TV was almost off, it was the DVD drive she was complaining about.

Same as when I borrowed one to play Bioshock, I could only play it when she was out, cos if I wanted to actually drown the sound out, she could hear it no matter were she was in the house (and our house aint a 1 bedroom flat).

Oh, and copying to the HDD - bonus, now you get to run out of HDD space and pay the disgusting MS tax for a HDD that sony just lets you replace. Call me Mr Picky.

In 20 years of gaming, has there ever been a console with so many hardware issues and faults? Scratching DVDs, noise, heat, RRoD - honestly, people must be stupid for swallowing all that.

Can't think of one tbh, and looks like you can added the latest problem with the HANA (or whatever it's called) to that list. Such a shame as the original xbox was built like a tank and was probably the most reliable console on the market at the time.

Let's hope MS learn an important lesson for their next console.

Right, you could have just said no then

Yep, and that attude might explain this:-

"I live in a house with 3 other people and i have NEVER had any complaints. In fact I've lived with 13 different people since i got the console and non of them have ever said its noisy."

Do what I please... great.

Well I said that 13 people hadn't had a problem with it and got told I was in the minority. So i asked for some evidence and he gave me an account where ONE person had found it noisy. I could probably break it down more.

Yep, clearly no issues with it...

"Xbox 360 Dvd Or Fan Noise Xbox 360. ... The DVD drive is bloody noisy when playing a 360 game as the drive constantly spins at top speed"

"We crack an Xbox 360 open to see if we can reduce the noise"

"How do you cope with the dvd noise? - Xbox 360"

"The DVD noise though is a joke and had I known it was that noisy before purchase"

Yep, clearly not an issue at all. Back to denial for you son.

Did you read the rest of the thread? I haven't said its not noisy. I said it doesn't put me off because anything I do on it is louder than that. And of course if you'd done your research you'd know that the noise varies quite a lot between consoles. But of course you clearly didn't. I could find thousands of links of people having 3 RROD problems, that doesn't mean I have. I just can't stand it when idiots say stuff like "People who say they don't notice the noise are in denial" and crap like that, because it's simply not true.
