Very useful tool

I closed it down and had to reboot :(

I went to bookmark it in FF and then it all went pear shaped from there

meh, a tool like that will never tell you how your game will run something. it just compares your spec with the games min and reccomended requirements, you can do that yourself by just looking at the game spec

And you do not fear your computer becoming hijacked :)

That "tool" knackered my PC up :(

I couldnt type any text in anywhere

Same had to end "firefox.exe" process in task manager. Also is it me or it just compares the requirements written on the back of the game with your PC?

CPU Speed
Minimum: 1.2 GHz
You Have: 2.2 GHz Performance Rated at 3.7 GHz
No way right?
you own a 3700+ right? the PR rating is 3.7GHz, meaning that it would match a pentium 4 at 3.7GHz (while clocked at 2.2Ghz)

Minimum: 800 MHz with a Hardware T&L capable Video Card (2.4 GHz without Hardware T&L Video Card)
You Have: 2.6 GHz Performance Rated at 4.0 GHz

mine ^^^although surely it should be rated a bit more than 4GHz

Haven't looked at the tool but judging by the replies it's probably like most of these other online things.... maybe OK for less experienced users, but for seasoned PC gamers like many on this forum not all that useful.

In my opinion minimum/recommended specs are much less important than they used to be anyway, because nowadays 'everyone' has a 3d accelerator card... ok so the odd game might require dx8 hardware (ruling out e.g. gf4mx) but in general most modernish PCs, even those bought on the high street will at least run games, albeit with poor performance.

As far as performance goes, the way I do things is to completely ignore the minimum specs, look at the recommend ones, add 50% speed and that gives an idea of what kind of system you need for decent performance and visuals. So for example, BF2 recommends 2.4ghz, 1gig RAM, 256meg vid card. I'd say 3500+, 1.5gig RAM, and a 6800GT or better. Far Cry says 2ghz, 512meg, 128meg card; I say 3000+, 768meg, 6800 or better.

It's all a bit subjective as different people have different tolerances of framerates anyway.
