Hi there.

Have just put together a new rig for the server at my new job, using the above cpu and an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro. Idle temps with the processor at stock using the compound provided (believe it to be MX1) it is idling at abou 45-48 degrees in the BIOS.

Also, the NB temp is sitting at around 75-78 degrees, this is on an Intel DP35DP motherboard.

Are these normal temps or is something going amiss?

Thanks very much for looking, any help appreciated.

It is a bit warm, whats ventilation in the case like? The CPU at idle should be sub-40c really and the NB would be better about 20c cooler too.

After looking at the temps again, the north bridge, under load, reaches near the 85 degree mark. This is just with the side off, when a 22" fan is pointing at the cpu/northbridge it reduces it to around the 40 mark, which tbh i think is still a bit warm for a stock cpu.
After doing some research over the weekend the motherboard's normal running temperature with no ventilation should be 40 degrees.
