Very weird internet issue

Hey guys,

Im having trouble with my wired internet connection. The computer is connected to a router/modem. Basically, I load up internet explorer, google loads but only partially (everything will load except for the logo). All other websites dont work it just says "waiting for www.XYZ.com" and doesnt load.

Outlook express connects to the email server, but it can never recieve messages either.

Ive got one other compter connected to the router/modem through a wired connection and its fine and ive got a laptop connected wirelessly and its running fine.

All computers are running on windows xp.

Ive restared the computer and router yet this doesnt make a difference.

Any ideas?

If others connect through the same means to the same router, your computer is probably at fault. First though, try swapping the wires and ports on the router around - see if it's a dodgy cable or just one port.

The fact that it's loading at all, however, suggests it's a software issue rather than failed hardware. If it doesn't clear up in a day or so I'd be inclined to suggest a swift backup-and-reformat; debugging networking issues will probably take longer anyway, I find it almost always turns into a major hassle.
