Hey guys, i'm sat here on my desktop PC at work but i'm having very weird problems with my graphics that I can replicate a lot of the time.

Machine Spec:

Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 2.8GHZ
4GB DDR2 800 Mhz memory
x64 Windows 7 Enterprise
Geforce 6200 PCI Card (two outputs 1xDVI and 1xVGA - I have two 19" screens)

For the most part things are OK but the problem I am having, is that whenever a UAC prompt shows up and I press Continue, as soon as the machine returns to Windows my whole desktop is black and I have to move a window across the desktop to paint my desktop visible again! it's very annoying!

I have tried the latest Nvidia drivers:

195.62_desktop_win7_winvista_64bit_international_whql.exe

And also some older ones:

190.38_desktop_win7_winvista_64bit_international_whql.exe

These both had the same issue, has anyone any ideas? Had this happen to them before?

Thanks!

Change the UAC options for now to stop it making the screen black.

Control Panel, User accounts, User account control settings, move the slider down by one and OK.

Nice that takes care of the UAC prompt problem, however it also happens when I lock my machine (and I have to do this lots of times a day) :(

Any ideas on that one?

I'd try rolling back to some older drivers. 186's are often cited as the best of recent times, that or use the ones provided by the card manufacturer (if present) and see if the problem remains.

Unfortunately I get the same issue with the 186 driver revision, I used Driver Sweeper to remove the old ones in safe mode, then installed 186 but it still doesn't work properly!

have you tried disabling windows colour scheme/aero? Or, if you have them off already, tried turning them on and seeing if it still does it?

With Aero off everything is fine, does this mean the card itself is not up to the job or could it be something else? much prefer the features with Aero on such as the window previews but at the moment it's just not viable to have Aero running!
