I have the weirdest problem with my PC! When first plugged into the mains it takes anywhere between 15 - 40 minutes to get it to cold boot!
Switching the power button does nothing in that time, no fans, lights, bios or anything, just completely dead!!
I have an LED on the motherboard that lights up so i know there is power going through ok.
There is a high pitched tone which is very faint, just before i am finally able to boot the machine, the high pitched tone gets slightly louder!
Once the machine is booted it runs perfectly with no problems whatsoever, can play games for hours with no issues!
If i switch off the machine and switch off at the mains i will have the same problem again, even if only 5 minutes later!
I have tried clearing the cmos, removing the CMOS battery for hours and isolated the power supply to see if the high pitched noise was coming from there but seems to be coming somewhere on the motherboard!
The BIOS tends to switch the whole system off after saving new values, which i find strange but might be the design. This also locks the machine up for 10 minutes where i can't boot!
Is this a motherboard issue do you think? Or could be the power supply or something else?
I have an asus P5K, HEC compucase arctic 700W power supply, a Q6600 and 4Gig of corsair RAM. Been putting up with this for around 6 months now!
Have also updated the BIOS, no difference!
Thanks, any help will be appreciated as this is driving me insane!
