Not sure which article this came from and I don't know if was posted here back in june, but I just saw these paragraphs pasted on another forum right after valencia. Wow, the others already threw the towel in for the championship quite early in the season.

"Sebastian Vettel's rivals have admitted defeat in the race for this year's title following the Red Bull driver's sixth win of the season in Valencia.

German Vettel extended his championship lead to 77 points after eight rounds with his lights-to-flag victory.

And despite there being 11 races left in the calendar, Lewis Hamilton said: "It's finished really. In the sense of the title it's almost over already."

"The championship is not in our calculations," added Fernando Alonso.

"If anyone thinks we can win the championship being eight-tenths of a second behind [Red Bull] they don't understand Formula 1
."

If it wasn't over then, it is now! Not a chance in the world anyone is going to take the title away from either Vettel or Red Bull. Unfortunately, their reliablity has been amazing this season... Which after Vettel stormed the first couple of races was what any hope of a non-RB championship win really lay on.

people said the schumacher years were boring but atleast he had a title rival with a chance nearly every year

You're telling me this year has been boring? It's been anything but. It's annoying that Vettel managed to walk away with it in the first half of the season but honestly, since Canada things have been far from boring!

He can probably thank Hamilton crashing in races and getting safety car luck a couple of times!
Also, with the amount of pole positions, I think no one should be surprised this far into the season.

for the most part yes its one of the worst championship battles i can remember its so bad nearly everyone expected vettel to take it after the first few races.

if it were ferrari and mclaren fighting for the championship alteast alonso would make it interesting

Tbh this was over ages ago. Vettel doesn't have a single rival, has been consistent along with excellent reliability (the only weakness that RB previously had).
