Vfast any good

So I live in the South East and constantly bitch about my shoddy service with BT and then I find out about a service called Vfast (how have I not heard of them before) which can possibly offer me upload speeds far greater than I thought possible.

I wanted to know if anyone on here has used the service and what it's like I am in one of the available coverage areas http://www.vfast.co.uk/coverage/

Will switch over asap if I hear good things but there's not much information to go off on the web for the company/reliability etc.

I only have ADSL/Wireless and Vfast (Only one available on wireless broadband) as ticked options available to me from my post code, on that website samknows. Trust me if I had an alternative I'd take it but I'm left with sticking with my terrible speeds as they are or going with vfast and having guaranteed superior speeds the latency may be an issue but the general results seem to be far better than I am currently being served I need it mainly for the upload factor as well so having a slower browsing experience isn't a problem and the general review of the service seems like the latency isn't the bad. I am within a coverage area so I guess I'll just have to bite the bullet and find out for myself.

£99 installation and then £36.99 a month

Be or O2 LLU if available in your are, nuff said, I dont understand why you are suggesting jumping to a wireless provider straight from BT of all providers without giving the good ones a shot?

ADSL is the most I can get currently  and BT has the fastest speeds average within my village apparently my speed is 3x quicker than the average within my area God knows how the rest of them deal with it. Stick with my current rate of

Statistics Downstream Upstream
Line Rate 7616 Kbps 448 Kbps

or upgrade to this

VMax - Up to 24Mbps download / 10Mbps upload, 15:1 contention ratio

for £10 more a month and it's the only alternative I've found to BT.

If it even provides half of it's service it will destroy what I'm currently being served.

Out of curiosity could you post your routers line stats?

Although you say you get. Shoddy service, bearing in mind BT as an ISP really arno that great, you havnt really gone in to detail about what your receiving, where your router is plugged in, have you tried ommiting any possible adsl interference that could be causing noise on your line.

Line stats from your router would help to paint the bigger picture to see if you really are better off trying something like vfast, however if long range wireless is anything like some satellite providers then not so great!

Line Mode G.DMT Line State Show Time
Latency Type Interleave Line Up Time 00:17:28:42
Line Coding Trellis Off Line Up Count 1

Statistics Downstream Upstream
Line Rate 7616 Kbps 448 Kbps
Noise Margin 6.3 dB 22.0 dB
Line Attenuation 11.0 dB 6.0 dB
Output Power 15.7 dBm 11.9 dBm

Is that what your after ? I don't really know the intricacies of this stuff.

I'm quite close to Ashford and someone posted this up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46UsmjCkWmc

not that it is super relevant to me but if people are getting speeds like that (even if Ashford is a BT Infinity Area) if I can get close to those speeds in an area where no new services are available (won't be available for years) I think it's worth the risk surely ?

And I need that upload speed increase big time even if I sort out the line my maximum upload speed would still be abysmal compared to what I want.

How much upload do you need? When you do a search on samknows do any LLU services or more appear? How far are you from exchnge? Is your exchange 21CN enabled?

You are approximately 482 metres from the exchange. Note that this is the straight line distance - the actual cable length will be longer!

Dude I am 333 meters from the exchange and getting 20mb and 1.4 up, if I jump to thus next BE package I could get 2.5mb up.

It's a real shame they don't do LLU or adsl2+ in your area as you area as you are close to the exchange it seems.

If your going to try this vfast I would atleast find out where their closest mast is to your house and try and do some research. But yeah as said seeing as they do one month contracts would be no had
In trying if you felt ok with it?

Excuse the bad grammar, on the mobile

Not a problem thanks for the reply yeah it sucks that those are all the options available to me but I can understand it not that many people would be demanding more than what we have hell I was happy with it until I started to require a better upload speed. And having to wait 7-9 hours for 1GB of data to go up on dropbox is infuriating. I'm stuck with no option but vfast I was just asking in case anyone had used the service on here and rated them.

as mr griffin said though it's a good option if you have no other choice and I'm pretty much stuck with accepting what I've got or trying out some new service that could increase speeds tenfold on the upload side of things (reason I want it anyway)

Looks like ur on a little crappy exchange. The good news is that if you ever do get anything better your very close to the exchange so will get good speeds. A friend of mine who lives in Sandling can only get 1meg on adsl as he live so far from the exchange... he tried to sign up to v fast but his neighbours had some huge trees that stopped him being able to get it, what I am getting at is just because vfast is in your area you still might not be able to get it, that's why they send out an engineer to check first, so before you do anything that needs to be the next step. I would be amazed if you were not over the moon with the speed you got from vfast if you go for the 24 meg package compared to what you are getting now. I know how annoying it is up until 3 years ago I lived on one of them crappy little exchanges that got up to 8 meg:mad:

Indeed I am, There are some trees around me but the chimney where they'd set it up is at most level with the chimney and that'd be for 1-2 trees at best 30-80 metres away. Guess I'll have to call them up on Monday and get it all set up of course I won't be cancelling with BT until it's all up and running + reliable. And yes if it delivers thank the Gods thought I was stuck with the connection I have for the foreseeable future just a shame they aren't marketed well enough. As when I'd done similar searches in the past for available services I never found anything! that's what you get for using inferior sites to samknows I guess I'll update once I've got it all ordered/or If I can't get it installed.

You've obviously never used Vfast.

What's your experience with the service ?

yeah its fine for gaming m8, here is my mates on ashford who is on the 15meg vfast

Thanks for sharing I'll be ordering the Vmax service so hopefully my uploads are slightly better than that although even if I'm getting 15-20% of what's advertised on the upload side that's still 5-10 times quicker than what I currently have. So that's hopefully worst case scenario (that or they can't install the thing which would be terrible)

This is my speed now just terrible

So just got it all set up and this is my speed on the vfast vmax service

Am I happy ? you bet I am :D

as opposed to what I am used to below

How much are you paying a month and for installation?

£99 installation cost and £36.99 a month.

Although you can go for the cheaper vhome at 24.99 if you only need 15down 2 up. Also some areas have installation costs covered etc guess it depends where you are.

BT was £24.99 a month I believe, but seeing as I need the improved upload speeds £13 extra is easily worth it.

That's great!!!! glad it all turned out rather well for you:D

I had no doubt in my mind whatsoever that you wouldn't be happy with the service.

Just glad you came in showing a mates speedtest result and the low latency

definitely worth what they charge it's been at 8.5-10 upload all day and 20-24 download as well (various servers all in that ball park)

latency is usually shown as 15ms or lower which is amazing.

Good to know they can expand the speeds further if and when that's needed and let's be honest 8-10 upload competes with anything I'd get from BT in the future. So I'll be happy with my current speeds for the foreseeable future.

I won't be recommending it to anyone I talk to though don't want them taking my bandwidth :D let them stick with BT ;)
