Hi, i'm tempted to build a HTPC but i'm a bit puzzled about a couple of things regarding VFD Displays and how to connect SKY tv to your computer.

I was just wondering how exactly do VFD displays work? Where do they plug into a PC and how do you set them to display things like what tv channel and show/song your player with a music graphic on, and when doing nothing showing date etc?

And how would one connect sky to a HTPC, say I buy SKY I would like to connect it to the HTPC first then into a HD LCD tv, I would like to change channels using the PC, record things, set tasks etc via the PC.
I would also like the connection to be a quality one, so it looks no different than sticking the sky straight into a TV.

With VFD's as far as I know you can get them with serial and USB connections, they'd normally come with software to program them and you'd probably find lots of prewritten profiles already available for them.
