I've finally built my new rig. Ryzen 5950x, Asus x570 Crosshair VIII formula, Crucial Ballistix Max 32GBx2 DDR4-4400, Samsung 980 pro 2TB nvme, Corsair H150i AIO, and a scalped Zotac 3060 gpu. It's connected to my trusty Dell 2715K 5K monitor via two displayport cables. Everything works in Linux and Windows. Well, except for two issues (I'll create a second thread as it's RAM related).
If I soft reboot from Windows, or Linux, or even F10 exit from Bios, it closes things, starts up, but then it shows VGA 97 on the motherboard Q code display. If I hit the reset hard key, then it reboots and this time it loads normally. It's always on a soft reboot that the stall happens, and pressing the reset key always fixes it. On a shutdown, the stall doesn't happen. It's also not the OS crashing, as I can see the shutting down part happens without any error logs, so it's only during the startup phase. The motherboard BIOS is up to date. Temps are all normal (35-40 celcius). I haven't seen a single crash during normal operation (haven't stress tested it yet though).
Any ideas what this could be related to? The motherboard manual says Q code 97 is "Console Output Devices Connect". That sounds like something to do with the monitor. Would there be a BIOS setting or something to not cause this?
