I run mine via the component leads at the moment but its apain switching between 2 sets of leads when i want my dvd player plugged in. If i go the vga lead for the 360 would it be better or worse than the component and also how do you get the sound from the vga lead?

It really can depend upon the TV really, some people find it better on component, some VGA. If it's an LCD HDTV, I'd say component should be the better to go for, make sure you go for the official VGA cable to be sure if you do.

Official VGA lead is miles better for me than the official component lead, much crisper and less jaggies :)
Same for me. I also find that colours over component are hugely oversaturated (I know I can adjust via the OSD, but then I have to re-adjust for anything else over component!)

Got mine on VGA (unofficial one) and its been great.. really nice colour production on my 42" PAnny Plasma.. and great sharpness.. cant ask for anything more.

hey up,

I got the official vga lead lastnight, now what res should i be runnining it at, running at 1320x768 at the moment,

colour does look washed out a bit to me, compaired to the official component lead in hi-def res. This is on the samsung 26" lcd, similar to the booth screens.

So was thinking maybe i have got it running at the wrong res?

Whats the scoop with these?

Is there a certain res to run it at?

Whats the spec's for 720p?

1280x720, however I run mine at 1280x768 as it looks slightly better to me.

You might find that it looks slightly duller than the component lead, but if you play about with the TV colour settings then you can get it looking better.

Ive recently been using a CRT with VGA lead to compare and calibrate my other TVs for gaming, I find overall it has the best picture than anything Ive seen, but the small screen size helps, on the downside you have to sit close. If anyone has a decent quality CRT monitor lying around dont overlook it :)
One persons 'washed out' might be another persons more natural colours, LCD TVs bring glossier, waxier or plasticky colours, which some people like, Im only talking lower and middle priced LCD TVs that Ive compared, as I did find some very natural JVC and Philips models but couldnt afford them as ultimately I want another projector. Ive got the new Samsung R7 which is a good allrounder but with colour issues mentioned above.
