Hi,
I just ordered a new 22" monitor for my PC to take to Uni and as I'm taking the 360 up as well I'm going to use the monitor for 360 gaming as well. I know that I need a VGA Cable in order for it to work but looking at the official cables its £18 or so which I find expensive so was wondering if Joytech VGA cable or cables off auction sites give good image quality or should I really stick with official ones?

Thanks.

I would stick with the official ones since i know they comes with the gender changer and audio cable converter that lets you plug into the headphone jack on the monitor if it has integrated speakers.

The Joytech ones may have all those, but from experience i know the official ones do.

Funnily enough I was just thinking about buying a 22" monitor for uni for my PC and xbox, damn OcUK "This week only":p

What's one of those things that you can use to choose whether you want the signal on the monitor to be for xbox or PC?

Just a VGA switch isnt it? Either that or get a monitor that has DVI and VGA and use your PC on the DVI.

I find that when using the VGA cable with my 2405FPW, the image tears right along the screen when the image moves from left to right. The tear gets larger the faster it goes. The tear is always at the same point on the screen, about 60% of the way down. Noticable when sliding dash blades, or moving around on geometry wars.

No such issue when using component, but I get an odd black shadow that follows everything, noticable when panning the camera on FPS'

Can't win! Though its probably the monitor, as it's had five different 360's attached to it...

Thanks for the reply,so most people are saying its worth splashing out for the official vga cable?£15 for a cable seems a tad expensive.:(

KVM (Keyboard Video Mouse) Switch.

You just bought a new 22" monitor:p For the sake of a few £££ you might aswell go for the official

Yeah but I'm not a "student" I am "meant" to be saving the pennies. My 22" Monitor was a cheap one costing me £170 or so.£15 could get me at least 10 Vodka and Cokes! :p

Quick question....

When using the VGA cable, I'm assuming you have to connect the red and white connections as well to have audio. I currently have the red/white pins connected to my 5.1 so obviously if it's not switched on I get no sound, just want to confirm that this is correct.

Yep, VGA is video only.
