Bit of advice if I may;

Have the 360 official VGA cable and this fine TV purchased from OCUK ;) -AOC N27W551T 27" HD Ready Widescreen LCD TV

It does have a VGA port, however when plugging in and turning on the 3sexy, i get a 'out of range' message

using the HD composite option is fine though - any ideas on that?

I think that happens when the vga signal from the 360 is set at a resolution that the tv can't handle. Try plugging the composite in, set the quality to the lowest settings. Plug the vga back in and scale up the resolution until it no longer works. This happened on a friends LCD (non-HD).

Off the top of my head I would say that the resolution that is picked by the 360 console using the VGA cable (by default) is a mode your TV does not support.

Imagine your TV supports 320*240 & 1280*720 & 1366@768 but the 360 goes to 600*800 by default?

If you have a PC monitor (which may well support more resolutions) you could connect it to that, and switch to a res your HDTV supports, then swap back?

I have not used the VGA cable for yonks, so don;t know what the default res is.
