Putting together some systems with various HD 2400 based cards, for now I use
2 x 19" CRT´s (1600 x 1200), so at least one monitor needs a DVI-VGA, in same
time I will upgrade to 2 x 24" LCD (1920 x 1200) later, so my question is would it
be better to get a model with 2 x DVI from the start to avoid feeding the LCD
through a VGA-DVI adaptor ??? (or is the quality-loss in adaptors neglible)

thanks for any help

I use DVI-VGA adapters all the time, I don't have a monitor with DVI so I have a couple of LCD's and a couple of CRT connected to various PC's with Dual DVI out using adapters.

It works just fine, only issue is that some budget cards don't have a VGA output on both DVI's

As far as a know the Analogue signal is just passed through the adapter from the card, the adaptor doesn't do anthing apart from change the physical connection

Thanks for the answer, sounds fine, but what if I bye a mixed DVI/VGA-card now, and
then I need 2 x DVI for LCD´s later ? is there any such thing as VGA-DVI ? any loss ?

I have ordered DVI-VGA´s for now, happy to hear it works well, but I could imagine to
turn analog into digital is a bit more troublesome if possible at all, (what I try to figure
out is if it would be a bad idea in the long run to get ANY card with VGA-ports at all, as
I build several systems and need more cards, with or without VGA ports)
