VGA hd cable xbox

Im not receiving any sound through my tv speaker when i play xbox through the vga input. However when i put the tv on av mode in which the audio cables are plugged into the sound from the xbox works. Is there something i need to do to get it working through the vga setting?

It's the official cable, ill have a play with the sound settings.

Its the LG42 LE5300. Ive got a core xbox so no hdmi slot. And this tv has no component input.

It did come with an adapter but i just assumed you plug the red and white cable straight in.

I'll have to take the tv off the wall again which is a pain, thanks for helping though.
