Hi i wonder if u guys could give me a bit of advice

I just picked up a Shuttle XPC 2 and was told that there was a problem with it "VGA no signal error"

Got it home as i wanted a new project and tried to fix the problem

When turned on the ram light comes on, the cpu fan runs, the hard drive spins but i cant get a picture

Ive tried different ram nothing, tried different psu still same

So i thought is there a cpu in there? So i took cpu fan off and found out that there was a cpu in there but no thermal paste and the cpu looks brand new, but the cpu was cold considering i had been running it

Any ideas what i could try im thinking its the mother board thats faulty

Thanks

reset the bios

This. Used to have shuttle computers at work and this was a common fault. Reset bios using jumper and everything was fine after that. I'd also get that fact there's no thermal paste sorted too!

May be worth replacing the CMOS battery as well.

Literally just sorted a family member's Acer PC which was had the same issue (fans running etc, but no boot), as soon as the battery was changed all was well.

try a different GPU in it as the card maybe faulty.

is the gpu built in to the processor or a PCIE card? if its PCIE re seat the GPU in to the motherboard and try a different output on the back of the gpu it maybe a faulty vga port

if possible are you able to fit a PCIE gpu one in to the PC to rule out the on board GPU?

did the clear CMOS option help at all?

Just a update

Ive removed the motherboard from the case

Used a different psu, changed the cmos battery

Still no beeps and nothing on the monitor

Worryingly the Cpu is still cold

Still getting the cpu fan working, memory light on

Cpu or Motherboard?

Where do i go from here?

I have read even a faulty cpu will get hot
