VGA or HDMI?

My good old 360 is finally starting to pack up (It's a launch one, and I'm hugely surprised it has last this long).
Anyways, this leaves the large problem of which one to get? I have a 24" screen with both VGA and HDMI sockets available, and with the Halo edition and the normal editions i can use either.
Which one gives you the best piccy quality? Plus, which one would be the best bet money wise? I already have all the bits

I have a launch 360, which means no HDMI port. The new ones have the port though, so im not sure which way i should go. Spend 20 odd quid on a new HDMI cable or keep my VGA cable?

The problem is it is entirely dependent on your TV (assuming all 360's have equal HDMI and VGA cables).

Some TVs have substandard HDMI connections, so VGA looks better, some TVs have substandard VGA connections so HDMI looks better.

If you mention the make of your monitor/HDTV I am sure someone will have the same one and can offer specific advice.

Can't believe people except the fact that the 360 will break down in a couple of years !!!!
Ive got several consoles that I have owned from new e.g Atari VCS (23 years old) Snes (14 years old) Sega Saturn (12 years old) Dreamcast (9 Years Old) all work 100% and have given me years of problem free entertainment (apart from the Dreamcast internal battery packing up :p)
I'm not slating the 360 I'd buy one tommorow but the thought of it breaking down in a few years time is making me want to join the darkside (sony :)) i'm proud to say at this point i've never owned a Playstaion but the future is looking bleak :D

i managed to get a couple of HDMI cables for a fiver each. I think it was of ebay.

Tbh VGA on my screen, i have the elite looks terrible imho but HDMI looks spot on and is crystal clear. Even component looks better on my LCD than VGA does..which is strange as i was under the impression that VGA was the best for picture quality.

If both ports on your display are of good quality I would go with HDMI ( thats what I use for my elite ) but try both and choose based on your personal preference.

I think I'll go for HDMI then. The new 360 arcade is out without the Hard disk (which i already have), so i think i might make a grab for it.
