Hi people,

Quick question for you experts out there please!

I have 99.9% finished putting my gaming rig together.

The problem I have is confusion caused by 1 power supply and two graphic cards.

1x Thermal take 1200w Modular (plug in cables).
2x ATI 3870x2

Each Graphic card has two power connections. One is 6 pin and the other, 8 pin.

In the power supply manual it states the following:

"Please be noticed that when trying to connect more then one connector to a graphic card, it is strongly recommended to choose the connectors from exactly the same +12v rail."

-----6 pin 6pin 6 pin 8 pin 8 pin 8 pin
12v3 --x---x -------- x-------------
12v4 ------------x---------x----x---

Can you see why I am confused? Can I not just plug the buggers in?

Thanks,
Chris.

Most power supplies have the graphics power connectors on their own sockets anyway, so you'll be fine to plug in whatever graphics power cables your PSU has.

ok, well I have plugger them in now.
Still havnt got the bottle to turn it all on yet! :D

Oh, which way round does the crossfire cable go or does it not matter?
(writing facing foward or rear of case?)

Please let us know how you get on running two X2's in crossfire. Thinking about doing this myself, thanks.

if i was you i would take out the 2nd card , boot up with just one card and install windows, drivers and all the rest of it and then add the 2nd card. to avoid any problems. not sure if there will be any but its better to be safe than sorry.

right, turned it on. One beep from speaker. Monitor comes off standby mode but nothin on the screen!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Will take one VGA card out and see what happens :(

Wow, I should be a PC engineer rather then working on Mainframe, midrange platforms! :D

For anybody else who may have similar problems...

I ripped the motherboard and PSU out of case. Had only memory, processor and VGA card in said motherboard.

Plugged in. powered on (Shorting power-on pins). Still nothing but one beep.
So, I cleared CMOS. Power up again and wohoo!

Never been so happy to see such a simple bios screen! Beutifull it was! :D

Thanks,
Chris.
