Been asked at work to purchase/research into some vga monitor splitters which would allow the deputy head (i work in a school) to use two monitors with one computer.

We have interactive whiteboards in almost every room which are connected via powered vga splitters. The problem is he has seen someone at a seminar use a usb one which is more compact and suited to his needs. I mentioned that they might have been some kvm cables or something as i have never come across such a thing and have searched google without any joy.

Anybody have any vague idea what he might have seen?

I know this can be done with the above and also with vga splitters both powered and unpowered but i have not come across anything usb that allows you to do this. I really think he has seen something else.

Perhaps you were thinking of something along these lines:

Although I have never seen one in retail over here, you could try searching some auction sites.
