Got my Xbox 360 connected to my 19inch Acer via the VGA cable. Onl problem is the Acer only has one VGA socket and no DVI so i think i need to buy a VGA switch.

Had a look around but I dont really know which ones are decent. Iv'e read a few bits about ghosting when using a switch so i dont want to buy a duff one.

Anyone reccomend one?

i got one from high street sure you can guess where ;)

Its a belkin two way, works a treat and as long as its all plugged in you can switch without the PC being on. It does seem to make a bit of a whiney sound like and a small beep when on the 360. To do with not having keyboard etc.. plugged into the second switch i expect.

Mines a belkin btw does resolutions of 2000* odd

I personally won't touch Belkin products myself (personal opinion of 4th rate goods being poor) but you can get then dirt-cheap on eBay.

I bought myself the D-Link 4 port from OcUK as I am forever fixing people's PC's, so to be able to flick between mine, theirs and an Xbox360 is a great advantage.

Wheres the D-link on this site i cant find it. Also if i leave my mouse and keyboard in the back of my PC instead of into the KVM switch will everything still work as the PC and 360 will rarely be on at the same time.

*EDIT*
Found the D-Link on another site but its a bit more expensive than the Belkin or Linksys offerings. Is it really that much better than the others?

I'm a big fan of Linksys but they didn't have one on OcUK but I really like D-Link too so I took the plunge for that.

My friend bought the 2 port D-Link and the cables are built onto the unit so he needed to buy a female-2-female D-Sub adapter, his cables also aren't very long.

My cables are all seperate on this unit which just makes things a lot easier.

Think im going to go for the 2-port model as i only have my PC and 360 to connect up also my desk isn't very big and i dont need long cables.

Just wondering if i was to leave my keyboard and mouse plugged into the PC insted of the switch would they still work or would i have to have them into the switch?

You use the keyboard to switch between ports.
My friend sometimes has bother with his 2 port because you need something plugged into the PS2 Mouse and Keyboard chambers for the Xbox360 (I don't on the 4-port).

You plug your keyboard into the KVM and use the keyboard cable from PC1 to your PC's keyboard port. You now hide everything away and press "Scroll Lock" and then 1 or 2 to choose between PC or Xbox360.

i dont have anything plugged into the 360's part of the switch over than the VGA and it works fine :)

You do tend to get a bit of a high pitched whine from it tho which can be annoying if your sat in silence.

R5Rich is the high pitched whine with the 2 port or the 4?

Luke

Yeah, I leave mine in the PC (via USB). Some require 'something' to be plugged in, even then you can gimp it with a USB-2-PS2 adaptor.

its on the two way one, not sure why it does it most of the time but its more of a beep when on the 360 maybe this is because i dont have any keyboard/mouse connected, it also flashes as well but i nm it still works fine :)

Well i finally made up my mind and went for the 4 port D-link. Its a bit more expensive but i suppose if i ever have another device to hook up via VGA i wont need to go out and buy another.

One thing though how many leads does the 4 port come with?

2. Heh. It's moronic, but people sell them on MM quite regular. Though with the Xbox360 in, thats 3 ports covered.

Hopefully i wont need to 'gimp' it with a usb to PS/2 adaptor but i have a few lying around so no problem there. What resolution do you put through the KVM NokkonWud? I've read about significant quality loss at high resolutions. I use 1440x900 for my PC and 1360x768 for the 360....

Think i'll have any problems with loss?
