VGA to Displayport Adapter Help

Hi guys, need some help please. I've got an HP microserver that I'm trying to get running. It's got a VGA out but my monitor is DP and HDMI only. As I need to access the RAID controller and BIOS, I bought a VGA to displayport adapter but it doesn't seem to be picking up any signal. I've read that the adapter might need USB power? Any ideas on how to get it working and to pick up the VGA signal? Cheers.

Are you sure its VGA to DP and not DP to VGA? going from analogue to digital will need a power source at the VGA side to make it work, usually a little mini or micro USB port will be on it.

It's one of these. There's no power supply on it.

Lol that's solved that one then. Will buy a new one that's the right way round.
