VGA to HDMI for monitor?

Hi

I am looking at getting a Dell U3417W monitor to replace my now expired monitor. However I note that many modern monitors including the Dell use HDMI for connectivity.
My graphics card is VGA, am I going to be able to hook it up or will I need a new graphics card?

Does your graphics card only have VGA? I think anything from the last 10+ years will have DVI and HDMI has been on every card for ages too.

On another note, you can get VGA to HDMI converters but they require powering and aren't too cheap, you could find an HDMI graphics card for cheaper.

You can get adapters, but I can't see anyone making one that'll handle the native resolution of that display.

I will have to check what graphics card when I get home on Saturday but its a Nvidea something or other.

If it's really that old that it only has VGA, a replacement card won't be much more expensive than a converter.
