VGA to Scart

I need to connect my old laptop to an old television. Should i simply just be able to by using a VGA to Scart cable. Or do i need something else?

Some thing that convert VGA to Scart would cost from £50(it's more than just a lead), but due to the resolution of the tv (assuming it's not HD) the picture would be very poor.
Pretty useless for text and only passable for video. I used to have an expensive one years ago. You'd be better off investing the money on a new TV/Screen.
