VHS > Mac (AVI or MPG)

I have over 5 years (1993-1999) of classic British Touring Cars videos which I would love to wack onto my MacBook then burn to DVD.

Any recommendations on what to get? I have a Scart socket coming out from my video player.

A few choices here;

#Use a PC with a TV tuner card to capture the VHS direct from the VCR.
## Use a DAC (Digital to Analogue Converter) and use a FireWire cable to import it to the Mac (via iMovie..)
### Get a dual VHS/DVD recorder from the high street, record the films and then rip the DVDs on the Mac using Handbrake.
