Victoria 3 - New Paradox Grand Strategy game

I'm surprised this thread has been so quiet, I think Victoria II was pretty popular though I only got into PDX games after EU4 and CK2.

I had an email from them today confirming pre-order is open, looks like a October 25th release date:

I know it was a very popular paradox title but it passed me by. Love ck3 as it's more thicko friendly with it being more accessible than ck2 which I just couldn't get my head around.

Man, I haven't played a PDX game since they broke EU4. Been playing POE instead which GGG are now in the process of ruining.

I haven't pre-ordered a game since Rome 2, BUT I made one exception for Imperator, PDX are trustworthy right? they wouldn't do me dirty?

Hence, I won't be pre-ordering this or even buying it anywhere near release, I'll play for free on GP whe it lands there.

So basically don't pre-order any game with 'Rome' in the title :D

Imperator is the only game I have ever pre-ordered, and they ended support for it before I even installed it on my PC! although that was mostly down to me getting side tracked with EU4 and then CK3.

I'm very much undecided on VIC3 though, did anyone play VIC2, and if so was that any good?

I never played Vic, it looked real old when I stumbled on PDX games. People rave about it though. It looks to me like they';re updating Vic franchise in the same way they did with CK, the art style look very similair.

reviews were up on youtube yesterday it seemed, but every one I clicked the reviewer seemed to be bothered more about talking about themselves, so I turned them off...

Steam forums suggest its out.

Is anyone playing this?

I've finished all the achievements in CK3 so trying to decide if I'll move on to VIC3 or HOI4 next (after a brief change of pace with Days Gone).

I'm not sure this game is for me, I've tried it out but trying to balance all of the elements to actually turn a profit is annoying, I don't generally like playing these games as the much easier major powers either.

My most played PDX game is EU4 by a long way, with probably CK2/CK3 following it but quite far behind, maybe a bit of Stellaris.

I've got HOI4 but I've never truly gotten into that either.

I enjoyed the much older HOI III, HOI IV threw away the Order of Battle system which I enjoyed playing with, it was very "micro" but I loved it, HOI IV is very much an abstracted meme generator IMO, this crappy "fronts" system they have in VIC III looks pretty turd to me.

Also, the era itself doesn't do much for me either, much prefer Ancient and Medieval settings. For war, it's Eastern Front WW2 all the way.
