I have been runing my 2500k for a year now quite happily at 4.5 Ghz. At idle 1..6 Ghz it uses about 1 volt ,and when at full tilt cpuz reports 1.28 vots , give or take.
Now my issue is that core temp reports my cpu VID at between 1.271 v and 1.346 volts at both 1.6 and 4.5 Ghz ...

I still dont understand the relationship between the two.

That would be ok if at 1.6 Ghz idle vid went down . it doesnt . But core volt does, down to 1 volt . Surley the cpu isnt asking for 1.3 volts at 1.6 Ghz . if so why is it only getting 1 . That would make the whole v drope the wrong way round . more (much) v drop at lower speeds ??

Sorry, read wrong i thought you were at stock speed. I'm assuming you have an offset in the negative? i.e -0.05v ? This would explain it. The cpu has a dynamic vid that will try to compensate for the overspeed so its asking for 1.34v, with an offset of -0.05v its actually getting 1.29v ish, not sure on why its asking for so much as 1.6Ghz though, however if cpu-z is reporting 1v then why worry? The VID is only a request, the core voltage cpu-z sees is what its actually getting from the board so you're fine.
