Video and DVD playback all gone dark after format

Basically I've just reinstalled windows after installing a new motherboard. My games are fine, but when it comes to playing back any sort of video, the image on screen is really dark. This occurs in both PowerDVD and Media Player 10. What could be wrong? Help much appreciated

Was mentioned a month or so ago. Try a search.
Something to do with the overlay settings in the video card driver.

i put the exact same post a few hours ago. i reinstalled video drivers it fixed it
