Video Camera?

Hey all

Don't know if this exists but is there a video camera which can offer the same effect of a DSLR depth of field effect yet be somewhat compact?

I use a 400d with a 50mm 1.8 lens at the moment (IIRC) and love the focus it produces and wanting something like that for 720/1080p video but being compact when out and about.

Does it exist?

In short, no. It's a combination of the focal length, low f-stop and large sensor size that gives a shallow depth of field and you may find one of those aspects in a compact but you're unlikely to find all 3, especially a focal length above 35mm.

You could try looking at some full-frame compacts as a starting base but they won't be cheap.

Closest thing I can think of would be a Black Magic Pocket Camera.
