Hey Everyone,

I'm having some problems with "stuttering" or what could be called "Jumpy" captures and I can't find the problem, help!

I'm using a VHS player > Miglia Director's Cut 2 > Firewire into PC.

This issue arises with either Sony Vegas 6 or Adobe Premier CS5.

Athlon 955, 4gb 1600mhz DDR3, F3 H/D's and now a 460GTX (no difference with my old graphics card, but I didn't expect this to be the issue).

I'll lose 2-3 frames of the capture which will make it appear jumpy, not a good look for VHS!

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Andy.

PAL specs.

It isn't a consistent jump either. It may do it for the first couple of minutes, then maybe a couple of minutes in the middle. Appears to be no pattern to it.

I guess it could be the encoder then. Does it happen with all your tapes? I'd try another source if possible. I don't really know how the directors cut works, does it encode on the fly and send it via firewire, or does your pc do the encoding? If so, your firewire connection might not be able to keep up, or your pc could be busy or something. If you recapture it, do the jumps appear in the same places?

Why don't you just play the vhs on your tv and use a capture card to record it on onto your pc? I hope this helps :)
