Hi,

I recently went to the Monaco F1 GP last week end which was FAB !

So I thought I would down load the actual official F1 site short video clip to go on my DVD slide show of photos.

So using FireFox I have a screen capture Red button to the left of the address bar on the browser.
So I started the capture and the finished file of 2.6GB in AVI format was saved to my hard drive.
However I can not open it with any video software at all ! !
Not Windows Media Player, Nero Player, Real Player, Quick time etc !

I just get a message that format is not supported !

So why is this and is there a better capture software out to use ?

Many thanks

Google VLC player, it will play a dinner plate lol. The file will probably have a .flv extension. You should be able to find a free flv to avi converter as well

The file extiontion is definitely avi !

That is why I am surprise the damn thing will not not play !

Have you tried VLC player. Might be a codec issue, not every avi is the same. It might be uncompressed, which although badged as avi might be wav or something similar. If VLC won't play it, try right clicking the file and open with Internet Explorer, if it is a video type for web based apps, that might work, but I would try VLC first

I have tried VLC and it will not play.
So I opened up Prism Video coverter and converted the avi file to wma.
Then played it in Windows Media Player. The clip now plays as if I did a time laspe series of photos and stringen them together.

So I suspect it may be a bit rate convserion from avi to wma !

Do you have the link from where you downloaded the video from, I'll give it a try see if I can help at all

http://www.formula1.com/video/

above is the link, however you need an a/c to access the video section.
Once in it is the Monaco clip

I have MSI AfterBurner for my 560Ti graphics card.
I did not know it could do video capture !
