Video Card BIOS Flash...... how to.

I'm looking at buying a faulty 7870 from my
neighbours friend, info on it is that its a failed
BIOS flash, resulting in it being bricked. (power failure during flash attempt)

He has not got vga or a 2nd pc to fix it and has
since bought a new card.... (also clearly not
very knowledgeable when it comes to
components)

How can i go about sorting this myself, as
potentially its a £170 card for about 20% of
the price.

You will need the BIOS from that model of 7870 or a compatible one and you can use the IGPU to flash the card via DOS and using ATIflash.

Check the tpu bios collection, should have one for that card

You can put the 7870 in your PC as a second card, flash it with ATIWinflash in Windows

Yea, the guy made the original backup of the BIOS and has the file saved.....which i can get.

I read that flashing the BIOS is best done in Dos. but all how to's I read say using a floppy, I assume this works the same way if I use a usb key.

What is a floppy? Only joking and a memory stick will do the same thing.
