Hi Guys,

Thinking of upgrading my video card.
Currently have GTX 560Ti but not all games are playable.
Would really love to play Assassins Creed Syndicate however it's unplayable on my current card.

Now, my requirements aren't really that high...I don't have 4K monitor so normal 1080p.
I can live without having highest resolution and can easily play on 1680x1050.

My current CPU is
i7-3770
16GB of ram
512GB Samsung 840 Pro
XFX 650 Power suply

Now, question is, if I get GTX 980Ti, will I have to upgrade my power supply as well? If yes, will I have to do same for GTX 970?

I'm thinking of either saving a bit more money and getting 980 Ti however am open for suggestions for any other video card at a cost of around £300 which won't require power supply upgrade.
Please note that only Nvidia options are considered.

Thanks :)

Your power supply is good for pretty much any single card, AMD cards run a good bit hungrier than Nvidia though.

The 560Ti is pretty old now, not much better than a basic GTX750. It's massively bottlenecking the rest of your system.

A 980Ti would be way too overkill for 1080p, maybe look at a GTX970 or R9 390.

I have a 980Ti and in Battlefront I'm running 1440p ultra, with resolution scale ramped up to 150% and still getting 60fps. 1080P would be a waste really.

I know you said no AMD but the problem (well...it's not actually a problem as such to be fair) with the 970 is that it only comes with 4GB vram (technically 3.5), whereas the 390 is the same price and has 8GB.

But if it is has to be Nvidia, the 970 is your man at 1080p.

So R9 390 seems to have more vRAM as well as wider bus.
Price is same for both of them really.

If playing at 1080p (not massive multiplayer games where a lot of action would happen at the same time) will those 4Gb of vRAM make a massive difference?
Any specific version of either 390 or 970 that you would suggest?
I currently have Asus 560Ti and to be fair have had few problems with it...overheating and everything...maybe just been unlucky with this specific one?

At 1080p with high setings the 970 and 390 will handle it , so if you go for the 390 then get the saphire nitro. If you go for the 970 doesnt really matter which unless your gonna overclock.

4gb v 8 gb of vram at 1080p makes no diffrence above that res then best to read reviews on both cards.
