Just reinstalled windows for first time in an absolute age.
What video codec and player pack do people tend to use nowadays?
Or does win10 have it all included now?

VLC, but K-Lite and MPC-HC will run everything and help with issues/slower computers. Those 3 all get installed on our work machines.

That and propriety software like Sony RAW and REDCINE-X PRO which you absolutely will not need...

Codec packs were useful like 20 years ago when 50 codecs were being used, now we have VLC and MPC-HC we have no need of codec packs.

Potplayer these days find it better than VLC and no need to mess around with installing codec packs unless you want to start going down the route of MadVR.

I install K-Lite codec pack but only so that I can get cover art video thumbnails in explorer. I realise I can just install Icaros on it's own but I've got used to just installing K-Lite now.

A second mention for Pot Player here too. A very good alternative to VLC and much more customisable.

GOM Player for me. I think tried Potplayer a few years ago because it has a similar feel to GOM Player, but for some reason I couldn't get away with it. Either way, I seem to remember it was virtually a clone of GOM Player.

Shark 64bit codecs here as well.
I do keep MPC BE availabe for getting information about video's and also as a fall back on the incredibly rare occasion windows media player fails to play it...
