I've got some blu rays ripped to a NAS and they are in VC-1 format which Kodi is struggling to play back without stuttering unline H264 which it plays really smooth

What software is available that will allow me to convert the compression from VC-1 to H264?

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Came in her to say handbrake but already recommended above. However, If you want to be able to control the filesizes you will need an older version of handbrake as it seems to have been removed from the new ones

In the Video tab, the Constant Quality slider. 20 is normal, the lower the figure, the higher the quality. (and higher file size)

I find this bit always confuses me just a touch. Iirc, it says something along the lines of 20 - 23 = high quality / 18 - 20 = standard, yet as you say, a lower number = superior quality. That doesn't quite make sense to me.

Found a guide on the net for converting which has helped as originally the files werent coming out to 1900 x 1200

Working a treat at the moment although I was curious as the original file size was 25GB + and now they are 2-3GB

Is this correct or am I losing quality? The file in Kodi still says 1080
