video conversion software

Can anyone recommend the best software package to convert video files. I have some old uncompressed files taken off camcorders which I would like to convert/compress to smaller sized file?

handbrake or freemake here for 'normal formats'. I've also got miro for webm which isn't what you're likely to use.

You can reduce the video file size by converting the video to other formats and degrading the resolution. I found a guide which offers some effective solutions to reduce video size. Maybe it’s helpful to you.
