Im looking for some software to replace the one i am currently using to convert my videos. I have currently been using ImToo Ultimate Video Converter 7. It worked well for a while but now im having issues with it.

Sometimes the Audio is out of sync (or every time if i trim the lenght or merge with other videos), other times their are picture artifacts or it appears stuttery. Its not consistent some times it does it, others it does not.

So basically im looking for something to replace it with. I have looked at HandBrake but im not liking it very much it seems a bit too fiddly to use, also for some reason it changes the resolution a tiny bit. For example a 1280x720 video sometimes comes out at 1280x718. I can change that but i have to double check this on each video, and that takes up too much time.

What i need in the new converter is the following features...

1. Set a output file format (including codec for both audio & video)
2. Set a resolution, Bitrate, Frame rate & aspect ratio
3. Edit audio, Stereo or Surround, Sample rate & Bitrate
4. Save a custom template so i dont have to change the settings all the time
5. Burn in subtiles
6. Edit video (trimming, cropping, merging)

Also would be helpful if it could use nvidia's CUDA so i can convert the videos faster.

Handbrake is very good if you can find your preferred settings and save them into a preset. I find that setting anamorphic to loose prevents any cropping.

VidCoder is probably a good alternative - it's a simplified front-end for the Handbrake encoding engine. I haven't used it for a while but it likely fills most or all of your requirements.

Thank you for your help, i have looked at VidCoder and it does seem a little easier to use than Handbrake its self. The only thing i cant seem to work out is how i can merge/join videos with it.

You are right, VidCoder won't do that. I suggest you look at AviDemux for that. Avidemux will do all the other stuff too. It can also fix any audio sync issues you may have.

Personally, I use a combination of Handbrake and Avidemux for all of my needs.

Ah ok i will do that then, thanks for the help.

Would Da Vinci Resolve (free) allow you to do this? I know it's a piece of edit software but usually they have decent export options.

Yes, Resolve would handle this.

Alternatively, Media Encoder would work, orCompressor on Mac. Annoyingly there was a pack of edit / convert software on Humble Bundle the other day that would have done you

On which system you are? I use a video converter from iFunia, and it did all the things you mentioned well on my iMac.
If you are on Windows, I also would recommend handbrake and Avidemux.
