Hi Guys

I'm looking to put a PC together to do some video editing and converting only as I don't play many games only the odd old one here and there. What do you guys think of what I have come up with so far ? This is all I would need as I have the rest

Thanks All

Looks like a pretty standard sandy bridge build tbh. Possibly consider the corsair A50 as it seems to get good reviews. Other than that looks good.

Thanks for that. Would the corsair A50 allow me to overclock this ? Or could i still overclock with the cooler i picked out

The Corsair A50 is a lot better. If you want a better cooler for pretty much the same price go for the Coolermaster Hyper 212+. If you can stretch to the A50 though, go for it:)

Most air coolers will allow you to overclock, the performance will just limit your overclock. You can even overclock on the stock cooler but probably only to about ~4.0-4.2GHz depending on your air flow, ambient temps etc.

The hyper 212+ should handle that (seen people hitting about 4.6GHz with that cooler getting max load temps around 70C)

If you can afford it, buy as much ram as you can!

Would buying more ram really improve the video editing and converting, and if i where to add a lot more ram would this cause any problems with overclocking

Well looking at it, it works out round about the same.instead of spending another £66 on more ram i could put that on a 2600K. So which would be better an 2500k with 16 GB of ram or an 2600k with 8 GB of ram

2600K and 8GB.

Hyperthreading will help out with the converting/encoding and if you need more ram you can always put another 8gb in down the line.

If you get a 2500K and decide you want more power a cpu change will be more hassle and work out more costly..

Yes it should be fine. If you want to make sure then just use this. Its a coolermaster calculator but it will give you a wattage at the end. I'm sure it will be no where near 620W though.

Corsair seems expensive for what you want :/ What's wrong with the antec 600W thats still on offer at £50?

If you want a modular cable system and need the 4 PCI-E connectors for multiple GPUs fair enough, just seems overkill to me at twice the price.

How often are you video editing? To what extent are you video editing? And what programs are you going to be using?

Hi

I'm doing videos every 2 or 3 days and uploading them to you tube. I'm using FreeMake video converter to convert my MP4 videos to WMV. Its this part that takes so long, most of the time I just set it going and go to bed as it takes hours and hours. I then use Windows Movie Maker to edit and output the videos at 720 or 1080 and upload them to youtube
