Hi all,

I'm looking to build a PC, primarily for Video and photo editing (Adobe CC Premiere Pro, After Effects, Lightroom and Photoshop). I would also like it to play the latest games in least 1080p (e.g. Battlefield 1 & Call of Duty).

I already have a 1080p monitor that I will use initially with view to upgrade to a 2k/4k screen in the next 6 months. Keyboard and mouse aren't needed within this budget but I will need Windows 10.

Is the motherboard suitable for this build or would I benefit from more/less features? I want to have the option for M.2 storage and ensure I have USB 3.1 and Type C connections.

My budget is around £1500. Please let me know how I can improve this build and what options I have?

Thanks

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £1,493.52
(includes shipping: £14.70)

Go x99 if your using it mainly for video.

Am I really going to see any benefit of a 5820k over the 6700k other than possibly some slightly improved render times? Does anyone have a good comparison?

It feels like the 6700k/Z170 is the more affordable motherboard/cpu platform and with Kabylake coming next year is the x99 platform the way to go?

There's some varying benchmarks there and it looks like the 6700k is included in the as well.

From what you'll read you can see it really does depend on what type of application you run which dictates what processor you should go for, however on the next page of those benchmarks it actually shows you the results the CPU's got using Adobe applications.

Thanks Gibliotech...the Adobe comparisons are useful and so I've decided to go with the 6700k.

go for the s340 elite over the h440.
a lot nicer case unless ou really need a lot of storage devices

might want to consider OCUK gigabyte deals with free PSU

would bring full price to £1572 but you'd move up to a GTX 1070 and stronger PSU if you wished to SLi in future

Thanks, I had considered the s340 elite, I agree it does seem nicer...seems to be popular choice and not in stock. However I'm considering a noctua air cooler and I do like the size of the h440 for storage drives.

Appreciate the ideas for the gpu/psu as well. Thanks
