Video editing laptop

Hi. I am looking for a laptop that would be able to handle video editing well.
Its important that it is light weight, has plenty of battery life and can quickly convert video files.

I have aprox £1,200 to spend. What would you people recommend?

Are you wanting to do the video editing on the battery?

The video editing will mostly be done when it is plugged in. However a long battery life will be needed for long journeys.

So you probably want some high spec Core Duo machine with a nice chunk of RAM and a fairly decent video card.
