I am thinking on buying a Hauppage hd PVR to capture my Xbox footage. It is required that it is plugged into a pc by USB whilst recording. As I don't have a pc in my room I was thinking whether I could buy a hard drive and plug it into that. I would use a sata to usb cable. I would plug the USB into a USB to AC adapter. Would this be enough power or not.

Thanks.

I do have a pc in my room but it is ancient. It has a 15 gb hard drive and I don't even know what processor it has. I was thinking on buying a crucial m4 hard drive and putting it in the
computer. I could save it on the hard drive and then carry it to the pc downstairs.

most files you record on a PVR if you record for 10-20 minutes will be 1-2.5GB so the Crucial M4 would be good enough for most stuff. However if that's all you're going to be doing using it as a recording base but not editing then just get an external hard drive ?
