I've got a project to do in the next day, which involves creating a 2 minute video.

The composition will be roughly:

1- Stop motion introduction (pictures already taken)
2- 3 scenes which will be taken from computer (using screen capturing software for it, mostly done already).
3- 3 scenes captured using video camera.
4- 1 final scene which involves some text
5- credits.

The problem I've got is putting them all together fairly professionally, and adding a music overlay.

I'm trying for a fairly clean cut production, but have no idea how to go about it.

The difficulties I need to overcome are:

1, transitioning between each scene fluidly,
2- with two of the video clips I want them side by side, preferably split jaggedly for effect.
3- adding music.
4- changing the timing (I want some of the clips speed up).

I've got a windows pc (i7, gtx 480) and I've got the adobe CS6 suite to use.

Any ideas?

Really appreciate it.

1. If you are wanting a clean look, then straight jump cuts between scenes or fade to blacks are probably the best option. Using your added music (3) and using the beats and or changes in the song are a good way to time your cuts/transitions

2. The easiest way in Premiere Pro is over lay the two clips in the timeline. and under the "effects controls" tab reduce the scale of each clip and then use the position numbers to get them positioned left and right. Make sure you keep the aspect ratio of the two clips, you may end up with black space at the top and bottom, but this is better than stretching the clips to fill the frame.

3. Find some suitable music that goes with your content. think subtle backing/ambient track rather than anything that will catch your attention for being too in your face. Its as easy as dragging the mp3 or wav to its own layer in the audio timeline (I dont know your skill level ;) )

4. With a clip in the timeline right click on it and select "speed/duration" and change the % as you need. Be careful if audio is connected to this clip. to remove audio right clip on the clip/audio and select "unlink" you can then select just the audio or the video.
