Video Editing software for nOOb with potential to grow

Am looking for a Video editing program which is freindly to Video Editing Noobs, but has potential to grow as my experiance and needs grow.

Sorry, think I mis explained myself.

I didnt want something nOOb proofe at the expense of features, just a video editing program which was initially easy to use but offered powerfull tools for editing home videos.
