Video Editing Software Suggestion?

Hi there,

I have a few 1 hour plus videos that I'd like to clip into 15 minute outputs for Youtube, I tried Windows movie maker but it only clips it manually. You have to select a start and end time, and then do it all over again for the next 15 minutes. I'd like it to be a bit more automated as it gets tedious with over 5 hours of video.

Any good suggestions? I don't mind paying as I'll be doing a little more with it hopefully in the future.

Sony Vegas
Cyberlink Power dvd
Premiere

Are these still the top three contenders? Or has new ones came on the market since I dabbled in editing?

Thanks

Vegas and Premiere won't automatically split the video into sections but they are the best consumer editing programs.

There's free software for splitting the video up automatically, I can't make any suggestions though as I haven't tried any.

You don't need an editing package for this, there are loads of easy ways of pieces of software to split video up. I imagine you've found something by now; if not what codecs in what container?

Premier or Vegas Trials would do the trick for now, but if you want it forever Vegas is the cheapest way to go for a video editing program.
