I think this might have been posted before but....

I've got a q6600 clocked at 3.6 just sent some videos to it to encode to a DVD, time taken 2 hours

though for a giggle i'd send the second lot to my server (if u can call it that after u look at the specs)

Intel P4 (non HT, 2.4) clocked at 2.8, 2 hours 30 minutes

both are using nero 7.... i have a copy of nero 8 i can use, would that be better ???

but looking at my Q6600l the cores are at 40-45% so it must be muilt threaded...?????

Even if the application runs on a single thread, the operating system's scheduler will simply balance the load across both cores. In fact, this sort of 50%-50% usage on dual core machines is typical of single threaded applications. There's nothing (that I know of) you can do to change this.

Nero 8 may indeed support smart thread-affinity setting, but I don't know for sure.
