I downloaded a video of a popular animation.

In my download folder I found another folder containing 13 xvid .rar files.

What am I supposed to do with them?
Why is it split up like this?

Thanks

You use Winrar to extract the film. Smaller files allow slower modem users to down load the film abit at a time and also allow the original uploader to replace any corrupt parts of the film in smaller bits.

I'm not very impressed with this.

It's a 20min cartoon.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH... Now I see. Some have 1 file, others have 11-13 files.

I should have chosen the one with 1 file.

No, using the information when it fails to extract, just down load the 1 SMALLER file you need. That's the point of the 13 or so files.

people do this because its better for uploading them to websites

uploading lots of small files is a lot less of a time risk (if it fails) compared to one massive file

are all the files numbered from 1 to 13? are there any missing? check from where you have downloaded that there are not suppose to be more files. Where did you download them from? if it's newsgroups then you might need to get the PAR files to fix them. Ans use WinRAR to extract the RAR files.

I assume you downloaded this from bittorrent? In that case always download videos that are 1 file only, not loads of rar ones. God knows why people do it because it doesn't compress the files and takes about 5 mins extracting it.
