An interesting point you make there about Japanese games and it makes me think of recent comments about the Japanese industry going downhill and running out of creativity.
A find it quite hard to think of any new IP's developed in Japan that have really taken the gaming world by storm in recent months or years, truthfully, most of the global hits have been western in origin.
