i have been ripping all my DVD's and sticking them on the pc in the front room, but when i view them in windows its sometimes hard to remember some of the lesser films is there a bit of software that lets me view them and gives me info like you can do with music ?

Plex and XBMC both have library functionality which allows you have metadata for each film and browse this through an interface in order to see what you've got more easily.

Can take some setting up though, (not usually difficult but can be time consuming to have your file structures and file names correct so that metadata is correctly scraped).

cheers will have a look at that, just got some obscure ones that i need to see the front cover to jog my memory

are you using Windows Media Centre? or just clicking on files?

Media Centre Master is a good one as it will pull pictures and a synopsis from IMDB for each film, although they will need to be each in a separate folder.
