Hello all,

I have a fractal design R4 case and my PC is very quiet with the side pannel on. My GPU/GPU are ~63 degrees under full load e.g GTA V (4.4ghz cpu @ 1.3v 2012mhz core on the gpu.)

My GPU has coil whine but i can't hear this when the case is closed, but my PSU seems to be making the most noise. It's an XFX 850W 80+ Bronze (Seasonic components)

It doesn't bother be much at all but should it be louder than 5 Fans, GPU and CPU?

Listen for yourself...

Cleaned the PSU intake fan? I know I just cleaned my psu out after a good 5 years and it was caked in dust, even though i had hoovered and used compressed air it seems that dust managed to ball up in some areas. I ended up using a slr camera lens air blower to clean it out properly.

How old is the PSU. The majority of airflow in the case can be pulled through the PSU in many setups so I agree with the above. Do you smoke because that requires at least twice as much dusting as a non smoker

I have a graphics card that sounds like a dentists drill so you dont got me beat. Will replace this year so I dont want to fiddle with it now really. Mostly its fine but its an ancient 8 year old card, made by XFX incidentally. I think they are a good make.
Vibrations and oscillation are more noticeable but I guess you are saying its purely the air noise

dust managed to ball up in some areas
Yes thats a problem. I tried to free it from my setup but it requires complete disassembly in my case. Be careful with a psu even if its off. Its typical for it to stick to vents slightly out of sight

Hey guys sorry for the late reply.

i cleaned out my PC ~2 months ago because the PSU was twice as loud because it was struggling to pull air though the clogged dust filter. I didn't clean the actual fan though as i'm worried about opening the PSU an accidently touching something i shouldn't resulting in a really nasty shock... or even worse! The PSU is ~2.5 years old now. We don't smoke in the house.

edit: i've just opened her up and cleaned her careully not touching any components, this is what the inside was like:
