video memory

hi guys,
in the bios on my laptop, where it says video memory, I have three options, 32 mb 64mb 128mb at the moment it is set at 64mb, what would happen if I set it to 128mb, please explain,

this will increase the video memory for the GPU to use when in windows and for programs\games etc

how much ram does the laptop have? as this maybe reduced when increasing the video memory
