Hi guys, dunno if this belongs in the graphics card, motherboards, or monitor section as its a weird problem I haven't come across before.

Every time I fire up my PC, theres a 2 in 3 chance that the video output will be completely disabled. The monitor (a Dell 2405FPW) says, upon entering the status menu in such an event, that the display is in power saving mode. Connecting the video output from the PC to another monitor produces the same effect (nothing). So what I've been doing is punching the power switch on the PC until I get video output. Turning the power on and off to the monitor doesnt give me a signal, even unplugging it and trying again.
Swapping DVI ports seems to have no effect either way.

When I do get a signal, it usually 'lasts' for a few warm reboots.

I had the same thing, albeit rarely, on my last Opteron rig, but it only happened if the machine and monitor were both powered off at the mains for a while.

Any of you guys know of any options in a BIOS that could affect this?

My setup is as follows :

Dell 2405FPW monitor (using DVI input)
Leadtek Geforce 7900GTX (using one DVI output)
Asus P5WDG2 WS Pro (Conroe e6600)
Clean install of XP Pro SP2
Clean install of NVIDIA 91.47 drivers

No wacky BIOS settings that I know of... I've tweaked the FSB and memory a bit to get a small overclock.

Cheers, Mat.
